If you follow the lovely Diana over at her blog Miss Moss, then I’m sure you are aware of her “Color Comparison” posts. It’s where she takes fashion and pairs it with edibles or landscapes. Genius, right? While casually sifting through the stack of images I’ve collected all over the internet, I too started to connect the dots.

I have to be honest my lovely readers, but I have been sad more than I was happy this new year. In and around the same time during the month of January, a few of my friends ended up parting way with their significant other; I feel for all of them. Now that Valentine’s Day is upon us, I realized that if you are newly single, I believe it’s important to remember that it’s okay to be a bit selfish when it comes to finding happiness. All right, enough with the schmaltz and onto the good stuff.

Left: For those who are tired of the macarons and cupcakes, this blackberry no-bake cheesecake should do the trick. Right: What better way to brighten your face than with a pink flush?

Skip the Hallmark aisle and get Quill and Fox’s themed stationary set.

Left: Who needs a reason to buy pretty flowers? My favorite are peonies. Right: If wearing the color pink is too girly for you, these dainty heart shaped earrings will speak to your feminine side.

Dana Tanamachi

Beautiful penmanship done with a pencil or pen is amazing, but it’s a whole other level of breathtaking when one attempts to write with chalk, let alone on a work surface that is ten feet tall. Dana Tanamachi, a graphic designer and custom letterer residing in Brooklyn, New York is putting most of us to shame with her steady hand and ability to write in a straight line. (Seriously, there should be an award for people who can do this with no ruler!) Tanamachi is dusting off our preconceptions towards this temperamental writing tool through her intricate installations. See? Chalk is more than just for hopscotch and provoking asthma!

Downtown Chic + Notes

We might be experiencing the early signs of Spring up here in Toronto but I am still convinced winter will make one last round before retreating completely. That being said, despite this “faux-Spring” we’ve been bestowed with allowing some of us to don lighter apparel, I am still very much in a cozy mindset. I believe this collage I made is an accurate testament to that.

A few things to note:
1. The internet at home is dead and it’s incredibly frustrating!
2. Going on a mini-road trip with my roommate tomorrow outside of Toronto to discover the quaint town of Kleinburg.
3. I have been sleeping at 6 AM everyday this past week and I desperately need to fix it. Any ideas?
4. I was watching How To Make It In America and was disappointed to learn that the show has been cancelled.
5. I painted my nails a lavender shade and I am in love.

The Best Pizza Dough

The key to great pizza is the dough. Believe me when I say that I have tried plenty of dough recipes found from all over the Internet. To wait over 3 hours and have the results range between mediocre to disappointing is just not worth it. I have been tempted to buy ready-made doughs but always hesitated and thought that I should continue on my search before giving up entirely.

Until a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon Kelly Senyei’s “Ultimate Pizza Dough” from her amazing blog Just A Taste and I have struck the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! The dough cooked evenly throughout even despite the mountain of toppings on top. It perfectly bubbled in certain areas like those Neopolitan pizzas I have come to envy and devour at 3 AM on a Saturday night. I didn’t think it was possible, but my search is finally over! Thank you, Kelly!
